Document Navigation
netXtract allows you navigate immediately to specific points of interest within any on-line HTML or text document.
To use this feature, follow these steps:
- In the Index panel, select the word you are looking for in the document. You don't need to scroll in the index
list to find the word: just click on any word in the list and start typing the word you are looking for, and the
selection will change to match your typing. If the word you are looking for is in the document (and is not in
your Ignore dictionary), you will find it in the Index list.
- To view the contexts in which the word appears within the current Web page, just double-click the word (or
select it and press Enter). netXtract will toggle to the Context tab, which displays all contexts containing
that word within the page.
- quickly scan through these contexts to find the one you may be looking for; you may go to a specific context
in the document simply by double-clicking the context. netXtract will immediately scroll IE's browser window
to that point in the document and hightlight the text.
- To return to the indexed word list, just click the "Index" tab in the netXtract panel.
Productivity tip: one hand navigation
To quickly go through a number of words of interest and their contexts, simply scroll the Index list using the up-down
arrow keys or the Page Up / Page Down keys.
When reaching a word of interest, press Enter (this switches to Context tab). If you need to scroll in the
contexts of the word, press the up-down arrow keys or the Page Up / Page Down keys . Press Ctrl to
toggle back to the Index list. Press Ctrl again to toggle to the Context tab again.
Notice that the only keys required for these operations are the arrow / page keys, Ctrl and Enter,
all reacheable with your right hand, without having to move the hand on the keyboard.
